Carroll Metal Works was founded by Patrick W. Carroll in 1984 with a focus on quality craftsmanship and dependable service. What started as a man with a dream, a junkyard-dog work ethic, and his home garage has transformed into a successful full-service operation with a reputation for reliability, quality, and follow-through.
What has remained the most important to CMW’s founder is that the company’s core values never change. No shortcuts. No surprises. Just solid work.

Carroll, and eldest daughter, Tory Carroll Patterson, hold hands-on roles in the day-to-day operations, allowing CMW to continue evolving with modern processes and capabilities—while keeping the same work ethic that built the business.

Trey Dedrick
President of Operations & Board Member
Trey Dedrick brings over 20 years of experience at Carroll Metal Works, having worked closely alongside the company’s Owner and Founder. He oversees day-to-day operations and leads projects from initial planning through final delivery, ensuring quality, efficiency, and consistency across every job.
Trey works closely with all members of the Carroll Metal Works team and is deeply committed to building strong, lasting relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers. He also serves as a member of the company’s Board, helping guide the strategic direction of the business.
Michael K. Carroll
Public Affairs Supervisor & Board Member
Michael K. Carroll brings nearly 40 years of experience in sales and relationship management, with a career defined by building and maintaining strong partnerships with customers, contractors, and suppliers. At Carroll Metal Works, he oversees field operations and leads public-facing relationships, ensuring alignment, trust, and consistent execution across projects.
Mike is a trained Navy Hull Technician with a specialization in welding and served 20 years as a Navy SEAL, retiring at the rank of Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator (SOCS). His military background brings discipline, precision, and leadership to every aspect of his work.
A San Diego resident, Mike is an avid aviator and barefoot water skier who enjoys life on the sea and in the sky. He is a proud father, grandfather, and uncle, and serves as a member of the Carroll Metal Works Board.
Tory Carroll Patterson
Fractional COO/CMO
Tory Carroll Patterson joined Carroll Metal Works as Fractional COO/CMO and became a member of the Board early this year. She brings more than 16 years of experience helping organizations—from small businesses to large enterprises—drive growth through strategic marketing, communications, and operational leadership.
With nearly a decade in senior leadership roles, Tory has partnered closely with executive teams to increase revenue, improve efficiency, and guide businesses through periods of growth, transition, and organizational change. Her expertise spans sales strategy, digital marketing, brand development, and operational optimization, with a focus on building scalable, sustainable systems.
As the Founder’s eldest daughter, Tory is deeply committed to continuing her father’s legacy and evolving Carroll Metal Works for its next chapter of growth.
A San Diego native, Tory holds a BA from San Diego State University and an MA from the University of Southern California. She is a proud mother of three and, outside of work, spends most of her time keeping up with their busy lives.
Mark V.
Lead Estimator & Programs Manager
Mark leads estimating and program management at Carroll Metal Works, overseeing projects from initial pricing through execution. He reviews plans and change orders, coordinates across detailing, shop and field teams, and manages material purchasing to keep projects on time and on budget.
He brings a highly technical background as a U.S. Navy nuclear engineering veteran, along with an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Coastline Community College and advanced engineering coursework through Purdue University and the University of New Haven.
Earlier in his career, Mark spent 13 years at American Systems Engineering Corporation (AMSEC) in San Diego, holding roles in project management, field engineering, and office management. He also holds certifications in Electrical and HVAC from the National Center for Construction Education and Research.
Donna Wright
Bookkeeper
Donna Wright oversees billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable for Carroll Metal Works, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the company’s financial operations. She also plays a key role in supporting Human Resources and maintaining compliance with hiring and employment practices.
With nearly 30 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping for small to midsize businesses, Donna brings a high level of reliability, organization, and attention to detail to the team.
A lifelong San Diego resident, Donna is a trusted resource who helps keep the business running smoothly behind the scenes.
Patrick W. Carroll
Owner & Founder
Patrick W. Carroll founded Carroll Metal Works in 1986, building the company from a one-man operation in his garage into a trusted, full-service steel fabrication business in San Diego.
A welder by trade, Pat began his career in Florida after high school, where he earned his welding certification and developed his craft working in steel shops. Driven by a vision to own his own business, he brought that experience to Southern California and set out to build something of his own.
Through hard work, sharp business instincts, and a commitment to quality, Pat grew Carroll Metal Works into a 20-person team known for reliability and craftsmanship. He served as Owner, Operator, and Board Member until his retirement in 2023.
Today, Pat enjoys spending time with his wife, Jane, and their growing family, including their two grandsons and granddaughter. While no longer involved in day-to-day operations, he remains closely connected to the business he built—stopping by regularly to check in with the team.
